Aranyam! Overview
Why this festival? The rate at which the natural wealth is being plundered today is having serious repercussions. Today in the name of development the forests and wildlife are disappearing at a very fast pace. Does this have an affect on our lives?? It needs to be told to one and all. If you look at one side we are having serious water problem in the city. But do we know from where water is coming??? For us to have water, we need forests. In Kannada there is an old saying “if there is tiger in the forest, the village will get water”. Today there are very few tigers, so there is no water, as simple as that.
The elephants, the tigers and the other wild animals today are slowly dwindling in numbers and soon will become extinct. Man’s greed for more has resulted in extinction of other species. What better time to address the seriousness of this issue than the wildlife week.
ARANYAM, A Wildlife Film Festival: Started as a three-day special event showing films about wildlife and nature. We also will have a short presentation and a panel discussion on wildlife during the three days. Films will be presented with discussions including consumers of eco tourism services, adventure professionals, environment organizations, wildlife organizations and documentary movie producers, inviting audience participation.
It will be held from October5th to 7th at Gurunanak Bhavan, Vasanth Nagar Bangalore . The festival will attract not only people interested in wildlife and eco tourism but anyone who is a documentary buff.
