Aranyam Announcing The 3rd Aranyam International Film Festival on Environment and Wildlife

Bangalore, India -Aranyam announced today the line-up of films selected from a record number of submissions for the Aranyam Film Festival on Environment and Wildlife. The premier showcase for the best new work by independent filmmakers, Aranyam Film Festival provides audiences with abundant opportunities to discover today's environment, understand the climate and discover the Wildlife.

"The broad range of genre's in this year's Festival is not simply in terms of the demographics of the submissions and the issues they explore," said Aswin Nandakumar, Festival Manager, Aranyam Film Festival. "This year we are seeing serious storytelling and art that actually illustrates the World we Live in, the impact of Climate Change on Habitats and the solutions to Climate change situation and heroes, who have achieved great success in their environment conservation initiatives and due to Time Constrain, not everything can be screened but we are optimistic to screen them at our upcoming festivals in other cities, he added"

Climate Change - A Glimpse of truth & The Solutions

As the world knows that ice is melting and global arming is real, the festival organizers will not show too many films related to Global Warming but give more importance to the solutions in hand.

Aranyam Film Festival is being organized jointly by Aranyam Trust in association with Wildscreen UK, Witness Media, Dreamcatcher & Artin Dynamics


A total of 11 films will be screened during the festival where the 1st day will be premiering a movie on Climate Change called On Thin Ice. This will be followed by Films on solutions that can be adopted to mitigate Climate Change.

This will be followed by Presentation by Artin Dynamics,  a group of young entreprenaurs, who has lauched a revolutionary product  SPARA which saves power in workstations.

Several other envionment related presentations are also planned.

October 3rd at 3.00 PM – 9PM.
The second day of the festival deals with wildlife.  Movies are carefully selected to showcase wildlife and biodiversity hotspots of the world. Many of these films have never been screened in India before. The festival is invite based. to collect the ticket number, login to www.aranyam.org

CLIMATE CHANGE- A GLIMPSE OF TRUTH

 On Thin Ice ( 20 min) INAUGURAL

Synopis : The Arctic sea ice is melting. This programme shows the importance of this ice to the animals who live there. We visit the Svalbard archipelago, a world that is in danger of disappearing.  Climatologists expect the Arctic to be completely icefree as early as in 2050 if environmental toxins continue to be released into the atmosphere at the present rate.This programme focuses mainly on the seals, which are the first to suffer as the icy platform melts away beneath them.

Dolphin Army by Aquavision South Africa 50 min

Synopsis : A small herd of female Common Dolphins raises their calves just in time to join the Dolphin Army - a mega "pod"of 3000 dolphins charging up the South African coast to feast on the massive annual sardine migration.

The windows of Life by Danny Van Belle 18 min

Synopsis : In the underwater world colours disappear quickly as the water absorbs the sunlight. Divers use artificial light to bring back the colours at all their splendour. Most sea creatures have eyes. But what do they see? Do they perceive colours? The film is a spectacular journey into the unseen and the unheard living organisms in the deep sea. A journey into the deep blue see where true colours are shown of creatures.

 Gimme a Hug by Protect the Shark Foundation– 13 min


Synopsis :Gimme a Hug is a short documentary from the Protect the Sharks Foundation. The documentary shows one of the most mysterious phenomena in the animal world; sharks, showing a totally different behaviour than most people would expect.

WILDLIFE – LAND

Bal Pandi by Suresh Elamon  37 min

Synopsis : Koondakulam, in Tamil Nadu, India, is a unique a bird sanctuary. This is also the story of Bal Pandi, a villager who would give his life for the birds. A self-taught birdwatcher; more than that, one who loves and fiercely protects the feathered friends who come from far-off lands to Koonthakulam to brood and nest in this corner of the world. This is the love story of an ordinary man for birds; and about the extremes he would go to realise his passion. With brilliant visuals and high drama, wildlife photographer and naturalist, Suresh Elamon, paints an unforgettable picture; a picture of what could be the world, if only we cared for nature.

Our Wonderful Nature by Tomar Eshad  5 min

Synopsis : A Short Animation film, interestingly made like the Matrix fight sequence, which shows the mating habits of the water shrew.

Klintoskeven by Rumle Hammerich 18 minutes


Encounter the poetry of the forest in a film that takes you on a journey through the ancient ice age landscape surrounding the white Cliff of Mon. In a series of visual and occasionally dramatic scenes, we experience the animals of the forest, its mood and the hidden magic of the fabled place.
